Jaiden Manuel, a senior at Royal Palm Beach Community High School, made his debut as the new Student Board Representative at the August 21 school board meeting. The Student Board Representative represents District students, and serves as a valuable link between the student body and the school board.

“I am interested in student government because of the work and time that is put in by each member for their school and their community,” Manuel said. “We all spend endless hours together working to grow school spirit, safety, and involvement from our community.”

Manuel is no stranger to school involvement, serving as a member of multiple clubs at his school, in addition to engaging his hobbies of volleyball, soccer, swimming, and diving. He is part of the Chess Club, Interact Club, Math Honor Society, Health Occupation Students of America, National Honor Society, and Student Government, a subject he is especially passionate about.

The Student Board Representative is given a seat at the table, and the ability to communicate student concerns and suggestions to the District’s top leadership during school board meetings.

“I hope to give input to the school board based on the needs and feelings of the students in Palm Beach County,” Manuel said. “It’s important for each student to have a voice, and I wanted to be that voice.”

Manuel’s desire to articulate important issues is also evident in his career aspirations. After graduation, he plans to attend Florida State University or the University of Central Florida to major in political science, followed by law school or a career in international communications.
