District’s COVID Dashboard Ensures Transparency About the Disease’s Spread
Posted on 08/17/2021
The delivery of transparent, accurate, and timely information regarding COVID-19 is of the utmost importance to the School District of Palm Beach County.

It is the intention of the District to notify parents, guardians, and staff of a particular school the same day that a positive COVID-19 case has been confirmed. Two letters will be distributed that day, one to any class affected and a second letter will be distributed school-wide.

After notification has occurred, the case will appear on the District’s COVID-19 Dashboard within a matter of hours. The number of confirmed cases reflected on the Dashboard is cumulative since the start of school on August 10, 2021. The Dashboard is updated at 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily.

While all of this is occurring, the Florida Department of Health (DOH) will be conducting contact tracing in order to identify and inform those who were in close contact with the infected individual.

The District will notify parents and staff before the contact tracing conducted by DOH is complete. This early notification is an effort to provide this information quickly and inform affected individuals that all health-related protocols are underway.

Once the Florida Department of Health completes its contact tracing, the agency will contact those who were in close proximity to the infected individual, to let them know of their next health-related steps.

After all involved parties are notified by the DOH, the District will again contact those who were in the particular class, and the entire school community, that if they weren’t contacted by DOH, health officials determined that they were not in close proximity to the COVID-19 positive individual.

As a reminder, numerous safety procedures take place on all District campuses including wearing facial coverings, social distancing, and increased sanitization. COVID-19 remains an ongoing threat in Palm Beach County. It is important that everyone remains aware of symptoms and gets tested if they feel they may have contracted the virus.

Information about COVID-19 symptoms is available on the Florida Department of Health's website. The District reminds the community that we all play a role in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
