Community leaders came together at the Palm Beach County Convention Center to showcase the importance of investing in today's students as tomorrow's leaders.

The annual Distinguished Alumni and Leadership Awards event is a collaborative partnership between the Business Development Board, the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County and the School District of Palm Beach County.

This year’s event honored Kate Arrizza as the 2022 Distinguished Alumni Awardee. Arriza is the President/CEO of Cox Science Center and Aquarium, and a graduate of the Palm Beach County School District. She was recognized for her significant contributions in professional practice, personal achievement, and community service.

“I’m a product of the Palm Beach County public school system,” Arrizza said. “And I can tell you firsthand, they can prepare you for anything!”

A tribute was also paid to Ray Titus, Chief Executive Officer of United Franchise Group in West Palm Beach, as the Outstanding Leadership Awardee for going “above and beyond '' and being a mentor in the community.

“A big area for me was giving back to the community,” Titus said. “Teaching the next generation is really motivating. To see them open their own businesses and start their own companies is incredible to me.”

Keynote speakers at the event included Superintendent Michael J. Burke and Daniel Cane, CEO and Co-founder of Modernizing Medicine, who discussed emerging trends and employment in both the business and education world, as well as what role private investment from the business community plays in education today.
