On March 25, students at Royal Palm School got a special visit from some prehistoric beings, thanks to a unique event provided by non-profit organization Canterbury Events. Dino & Dragon Stroll tours the country offering “Dino Therapy” to children and families while in a tour city. “Dinosaurs” make special visits to hospitals and schools to provide happiness.

Royal Palm School was one stop on the heartfelt mission, as the Exceptional Student Education and Safe School kids had the chance to interact with animatronic creatures during a Sensory Friendly Session. The special setting gave students with sensory sensitivities the ability to enjoy the event in a more subdued environment, with no flashing lights, limited sound, and limited movement from the dinosaurs.

“It was great to see students of all ages, pre-K through age 22, enjoying this unique experience,” said Dr. Jennifer Corcoran, the school’s Principal. “The joy on the students' faces and their positive reactions when seeing and interacting with this dinosaur exhibit was priceless."

An adorable baby dinosaur and a life-like, full-sized Velociraptor elicited “dino-mite” smiles from students who got up close and personal, touching and hugging the creatures, all while letting their imaginations soar.

“Canterbury hosted another event at the [South Florida] Fairgrounds and gave all students with disabilities and children involved with child welfare free admission,” said Kevin McCormick, Director of Exceptional Student Education for the District. “Today, they graciously donated their time to visit the Royal Palm School, and it was magical the way these kids connected.”

Canterbury Events’ Dino & Dragon Stroll tours the country providing positive, family-friendly experiences that create opportunities for the community to come together. For more information, visit dinostroll.com
