Students at Loggers’ Run Community Middle School are celebrating a major accomplishment that no one could have predicted. Coming in as an underdog, the Loggers’ Run Band brought home a superior ranking, best in class, and the Grand Champion award at the Winter Park Ski Music Festival.
Students from all across the country participated in the music festival including bands, choirs, and orchestras. During the festival, participants enjoyed an array of activities including skiing, snowboarding, downhill tubing, scenic chairlift rides, snowcat tours, and downhill scenic snowshoe tours.
“Lifelong memories were created,” said Amy Denny, the South Region ESOL Instructional Specialist. “It was quite a feat for some students who had never seen snow!”
Loggers’ Run is growing in popularity for its arts course offerings. This was the first year students could apply via the Choice application for Loggers’ Run Arts/Dance Academy. The Academy offers dance classes in various styles including ballet, contemporary, modern, and jazz as well as musical theater, drama, choir, piano, and band (concert, symphonic, and jazz).
