Woordchel Neossaint

At Royal Palm School, Woordchel Neossaint is known for being respectful of his teachers in addition to being a reliable source of support and friendship to his peers.

“Woordchel exemplifies respect,” said Jamilah St. Juste, a media clerk at the school. “In the classroom, he always answers his teacher's questions. At times, Woordchel shows his affection by patting the teacher or paraprofessional on the shoulder. Woordchel will hold the hand of another student and walk him to the cafeteria or elective.”

Neossaint is proud to be recognized for his positive actions through the District’s Character Now! Program.

“It feels good to help my friends,” he said. “I feel happy when I can help people.”

The District’s character-recognition program called Character Now!, was updated this year to incorporate new state standards with existing Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and Positive Behavior Support (PBS) initiatives.

The following are the themes for Character Now!:

• Showing empathy and kindness.
• Being responsible.
• Having a growth mindset.
• Demonstrating trustworthiness.
• Demonstrating respect.
• Being a good citizen.

Students are provided with instruction in the standards through the SEL and PBS initiatives. They are then recognized by their schools for demonstrating the character themes.
