Omni Middle Academy StudentNovember 14-20, 2022 is recognized as Apprenticeship Awareness and Appreciation Week, a time to celebrate the value of apprenticeship programs and the positive effect they have throughout Florida. Prioritizing workforce education and training programs ensures that students are prepared to meet the needs of a globally competitive economy.

In the past year, nearly 300 employers added apprenticeships in such well-paying fields as healthcare, energy, finance, and information technology. Now, more than 3,600 participating employers, along with more than 17,000 registered apprentices and pre-apprentices, are demonstrating that training the next generation of workers in potentially lucrative fields can address the skilled workforce shortage in any Florida industry.

The School District offers more than 300 Choice and Career programs for students in grades PreK-12. The variety of available options gives students the opportunity to select subjects or careers that are of the most interest to them, while still learning the state’s core curriculum.

As a means of preparing students for their future goals, many Choice programs also offer students the opportunity to earn industry certifications, reflecting current and future workforce needs in Palm Beach County and globally. The District joins the efforts to promote effective education along with work-based learning as an ideal way to recruit, train, and retain talent.
