Carl Boucard

Carl Boucard began his career with the School District of Palm Beach County in 1986 as a bus driver and was promoted in 2012 to the General Manager of Maintenance & Fleet in the Transportation Services Department. Prior to ascending to his current role, Boucard held a number of positions in the District, including Trade Helper, Electronics Technician, Building Inspector, and Area Manager.

He currently leads a team of more than 110 employees, setting goals and expectations to ensure thousands of students are transported safely to and from school. Even though he is a non-instructional administrator, Boucard believes his contributions impact student success.

“During my tenure with the District, I learned that every employee instructional or non-instructional plays a major role in student achievement,” Boucard said. “Even if you’re not in a classroom, you can still play a part in a child’s accomplishments.”

Boucard was born in Haiti, moving to the United States in 1985. He studied at Palm Beach State College, Florida Atlantic University, and Palm Beach Atlantic University, earning an associate degree in Electronics Engineering and a bachelor’s in Organizational Management.

“My cultural background is very important to me. I believe it greatly influences my professional growth and achievement,” Boucard said. “Haitians believe in and depend on education. We believe education is the key that opens all doors. In my culture, education is necessary. Without it, you are limited in all aspects.”

Boucard’s mindset of not placing limits on himself is evident in his multilingual abilities (he speaks English, Haitian Creole, French, and Spanish), his love of sports, travel, and food, as well as his extensive involvement in church and family activities.

The father of three enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, and sharing his core beliefs about education, hard work, sacrifice, faith, and pride in their heritage. As he nears retirement, Boucard plans to give back to the community, in particular, his homeland Haiti.

“My country gave so much to me, and it was always my dream to give back to the place where I grew up and started my educational journey,” Boucard said. After my retirement, I would like to volunteer for the Red Cross and go to Haiti to help the less fortunate, because my country needs me.”
