Where to Get the Flu Vaccine

Flu Vaccine Not Offered in Schools, Where to Get It

Child getting vaccinated.
Health officials urge everyone to protect themselves against the flu virus by getting vaccinated.

Unfortunately, Healthy Schools, LLC, which has provided flu shots to students in Palm Beach County District schools, has discontinued the flu shot program for this school year.

It's important for parents to be aware of other options by which flu shots are available to children at low or no cost.

Flu vaccines can be administered at a variety of places such as: private physician’s offices, walk-in clinics, pharmacies, health departments, by their employer (employee health division), and college/university’s health clinic. Parents can also contact their insurance provider to see where the vaccine is covered under their insurance plan.

A good resource is the CDC “Flu Shot Finder” page.

Parents without insurance may take their children to a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or the Health Department.

For those with health insurance, there is generally no co-pay for a child to get a flu shot.
