Google Updates Branding, Introduces Google Workspace

Google Workspace

Currently, the Google software applications used by District students, teachers, and staff are collectively referred to as ‘G Suite.’ This includes Mail, Calendar, Classroom, Meet, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Sites, and Forms. Google has decided to change that name and branding to now be known as ‘Google Workspace.’

Included in the change will be new logos for each of the above-mentioned apps. For the time being, the School District will keep the Google-related portal tile designs the same. However, the designs may be updated at the end of 2020 to align with Google’s new branding.

Google has not provided an exact timeline for the name change. The company states that users will begin seeing the name, logo, and branding changes in the coming weeks. Several new Workspace features such as polling, quick access, attendance reports, white board, and originality reports have already been rolled out or are in the process of being rolled out.

The new attendance report feature sends an email to Google Meet creators after the session ends. It should be particularly helpful to teachers for keeping track of attendance of students who have remained in distance learning. Additional information can be found at the links below:
