The Department of Choice and Career Options’ Showcase of Schools is highly anticipated each year, as students and parents clamor for details about sought-after Choice and Career programs in the School District of Palm Beach County.

While the 24th annual Showcase of Schools is a go for 2020, it will occur with a different structure and format.

“Normally, we would be hosting this event at the South Florida Fairgrounds. However, due to COVID-19, we are providing an innovative and virtual option, in a safe environment,” said Dr. Jeraline Johnson, the director of Choice and Career Options.

Unlike the typical one-night event, this year’s online platform will be available starting on Tuesday, October 20, and lasting throughout the Choice application window. The event kicks off at 4 p.m. on October 20 with a Facebook Live information session with Choice and Career Department leaders.

The Choice application window will open on November 2, 2020, allowing everyone the opportunity to browse the website and learn more about the programs offered. The platform will close on January 29, 2021.

“Although we won’t be able to meet in person and gather to excite our students on these incredible opportunities, our virtual platform will allow students and families an inside look to not only the program of choice, but the culture and leadership of each of these schools,” said Jay Boggess, assistant superintendent of Choice and Innovation.

Students and parents can attend this year’s Showcase of Schools on its virtual platform, and be able to visit every Choice program option in the School District from the comfort of their homes. This year's event includes all District-operated schools as well as Inlet Grove and South Tech. Within the virtual platform, students and parents can view marketing information and videos from the participating schools.

Families with students entering Pre–Kindergarten through Grade 12 can choose from a range of programs at the elementary, middle, and high school levels that provide innovative and rigorous academic instruction by specially-trained teachers.

Choice applications for the 2021-2022 school year will be accepted starting November 2, 2020 at For those applying to a performing arts program, the deadline for applications is December 18, 2020. The deadline for all other Choice program applications is January 29, 2021.
