Sixty-one District-operated schools in Palm Beach County have been designated as Schools of Excellence by the Florida Department of Education, making the School District of Palm Beach County the leader of Schools of Excellence in the state of Florida.

The School of Excellence distinction is given to schools that maintain an A or B grade and are in the top 80 percentile of elementary, middle and high schools in the state for at least two of the preceding three years.

The number of District-run Schools of Excellence is up from 59 last year with the addition of two elementary schools: H.L. Johnson and Wellington.

“I am so encouraged by the progress that our schools are making to not only stay on the School of Excellence list, but also continue to add to the number of schools earning the distinction,” said Superintendent Donald E. Fennoy II. “This continued growth is one example of how we continue to offer a world-class education to our students in Palm Beach County.”
