The School District’s full-day VPK and Enrichment Program provides a seamless 6-hour day of high quality learning opportunities for preschool children, preparing them for success in kindergarten and later life. A specified number of seats in each classroom is available for VPK only (3-hour) children.
Teaching teams are comprised of certified teachers and credentialed practitioners. Teaching teams use the DLM Early Childhood Express curriculum, which is supported by ongoing child progress monitoring tools to ensure students master the Florida VPK Early Learning and Developmental Standards for Four-Year-Olds (2011). All classrooms use the Conscious Discipline framework to promote the development of self-regulation and other social/emotional skills in children.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE:

Children who turn 4 years old by September 1, 2016 (born September 2, 2011 – September 1, 2012); parents may use a VPK Certificate for either a 540-hour school-year VPK program or a 300-hour summer VPK program, but not both. Some schools enroll a limited number of three-year-olds (who will not be eligible for a VPK Certificate). Schools prioritize children who will be entering their kindergarten programs in August 2017.

COST:

Parent fees for the 6-hour, full-day program are: (1) $140 per week; or (2) $115 per week with a VPK Certificate. The fee for 3-year-old children is $140 per week. The VPK only (3-hour) seats are offered with no parent fee. Parent fees can be paid with a School Readiness (subsidy) voucher. Afterschool care may be available (for a separate fee). The School District reserves the right to cancel a class due to funding or enrollment issues.

WHEN:

The VPK and Enrichment Program begins August 15, 2016, the first day of school.
