Have a new number...
A picture is worth a thousand words...or can save a thousand lives!
Each March, the Richard David Kann Melanoma Foundation rolls out its Melanoma Monday Art Contest in Schools, signaling the countdown to the nationwide awareness of melanoma in May. What could be better than to prepare students for the long hot summer that follows, and the dangers of over exposure to UV rays, with an engaging art project, and a group discussion? With education, melanoma is almost 100% preventable.
The age appropriate art projects and their supporting documents can be found on the Richard David Kann Melanoma website. Teachers who take on a leadership role can implement this fun and educational project, which empowers students and staff to make critical sun safe choices for healthy lives. There are prizes for winning students, teachers, and schools.
This video was created with the help of The Education Network in Palm Beach County, Florida, and Ric Blackwell. Watch as teacher, and melanoma survivor Diana Absatz, speaks passionately about the need for sun safety education for all students. Everyone is surely a winner!
Let's get more of this going!
