South Grade ES Choice Program: Spanish Dual Language
Spanish Dual Language Programs, also known as "Two–Way Immersion" programs, allow students to develop proficiency in two languages by receiving content area instruction in both English and Spanish. Students, regardless of native language proficiency, are provided with ample exposure to both languages, allowing them to achieve academic excellence while becoming bilingual and bi-literate. The program also emphasizes cultural awareness and sensitivity. Due to the rigor of Dual Language Programs after grade 1, applicants must receive an eligible score on a fluency exam to determine eligibility. Students entering a Spanish Dual Language Program for the first time in grades 2–5 must pass a fluency exam to determine eligibility prior to being made eligible for the Choice lottery.

Supplemental Programs
South Grade Elementary offers tutorials throughout the school year for grades 3rd through 5th. The tutorial focuses on providing supplemental services to students who need more support in ELA and/or Math. In addition, we offer Science enrichment tutorials for our 5th-grade students. During the summer session, South Grade Elementary offers tutorials to our Kindergarten through 2nd-grade students, mainly in reading and writing. In conjunction with our homegrown summer school programs, the District traditionally offers summer school to third, ELL, and ESE students.

After-school activities such as clubs are encouraged throughout the school year. Communication about our club options is shared during Open House with parents and guardians.
