Lake Worth High School Wins Big at Palm Beach Illustrated Education Awards

Lake Worth High School Wins AwardLake Worth Community High School took home two of the four honors at the 2023 Palm Beach Illustrated Education Awards that recognize individuals and organizations making an impact on education in the Palm Beaches.

The Lake Worth Community High School Band Program received the Outstanding Academic Program award, celebrating its successful learning outcomes, impact on students and the community, and level of innovation.

Dr. Tiffany Cox, the school’s Director of Bands, won the Educator of the Year award, an honor given to a Palm Beach County educator whose course materials have had a significant impact on students and peers, and who has demonstrated best and/or innovative educational practices in the classroom.

In her years at Lake Worth High, Dr. Cox has fundraised and received grant funding of more than $200,000 for the band program. She is known for her dedication to the well-being of her students, their families, and the community.

Dr. Cox has also been recognized nationally with the Give A Note Foundation Music Educator Innovator Award, in addition to being named to the 2021 Yamaha 40 Under 40 list which celebrates and recognizes outstanding music educators who are making a difference by growing and strengthening their music programs.

As part of the awards ceremony, a panel discussion on mental health in schools also took place, with Dr. Mary Claire Mucenic – the director of the District’s Behavioral and Mental Health department – serving as a panelist.
