Schools Recognize Black History Month with Events, Special Programs

From performances and poetry readings, creating a “wax museum” highlighting important figures in Black history and celebrating Black scientists and mathematicians, students at schools throughout the School District of Palm Beach County are recognizing Black History Month and the contributions of African Americans.

Throughout February, schools will host special events and incorporate lessons on the accomplishments of African Americans. This month’s events that are open to the public.

The Weight of Words!

Get ready for Pink Shirt Day by catching a performance of The Weight of Words! Palm Beach County students will perform and demonstrate the far-reaching effects of bullying in this multi-disciplinary musical performance. Shows are scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7.

The School District will be participating in Wear Pink Shirt Day on Feb 22nd.

Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches Announces Poster Contest

The Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches is now accepting entries for its 2017 Fair Housing Poster Contest. The contest is open to students in grades 3-12 and is designed to help students learn about the importance of Fair Housing. Cash prizes will be awarded in the categories of elementary, middle and high.
