Support for Students Under Stay-Home Directive

Purpose
Under a stay-home directive, students can be marked “Present” if they are engaged in work as indicated below. If a student is sick and will not complete work for that day, the parent must contact the school to notify them the student will not be engaged on that day. The student will then be marked “Absent.”

Getting Your Assignments
Teachers will provide assignments in 1 of 3 ways:

  1. By posting assignments in a Google Classroom for students to access independently.
    Google Classroom Student Support:
Google Resource: Get started with Classroom for students
    SDPBC Resources:
    Join a Google Classroom
Submit work for an assignment in Google Classroom (English)
Submit work for an assignment in Google Classroom (Haitan Creole)
Submit work for an assignment in Google Classroom (Spanish)
Submit work for an assignment in Google Classroom (Portugese)
Participate in communication and discussion using the Google Classroom Stream!

  2.  By email once the student (or parents/guardians) have made contact that the student will be absent.

  3.  By sending packets of missed work to the office to be collected by a family member not under a stay-home directive.

Standards-based InstructionInstructional Continuity Site tile image
Students will have access to standards-based videos and resources aligned to classroom instruction via the Instructional Continuity Site tile on the Portal. Access the Portal by logging in at mysdpbc.org with their student log on credentials.

Tutoring
Each school will provide Google Meet codes to students under stay-home directives. In these Meets, instructional personnel will provide students with academic assistance in an “Office Hours” format. The Meets will occur for two hours each day, Monday through Thursday, after school hours. Your school will provide you with Meet Codes and more information about tutoring.
