African and African American Studies

The African and African American History Infusion Curriculum is a means through which the African and African American experiences and contributions are taught. The curriculum emanates from an African-centered perspective, proactively incorporating current ideologies, methodologies, and technologies.

African and African American men and women have always been a part of the American dream and reality. The didactic goal of teaching students about the rich and abundant heritage of African and African American people is being implemented in K-12 schools throughout the District and across all disciplines as a result of Florida Statute 1003.42(h). Originally enacted in 1994, this legislation provides for the right of all Americans to learn about themselves and other individuals involved in the African saga.
