What is Student Reassignment?
Unlike Controlled Open Enrollment, which is based on preference and capacity, Student Reassignment is a process for families who have a Board Policy supported need to attend a school outside of their assigned attendance zone.
Requests are reviewed based on specific criteria outlined in School Board Policy 5.015. Please note that transportation is not provided for reassigned students.
How the Process Works
- Visit MyPBChoiceApp.com and log in, or create, a family dashboard account.
- Once your account set up is complete, follow the instructions for the "Student Reassignment" application.
- Applications are considered only for schools on the approved list of receiving schools based on the qualifying reason for the reassignment request.
- Transportation is not provided if a student is reassigned to a school.
Student Reassignment Pathways
Qualifying Criteria
Families may apply for a student reassignment based on specific eligibility criteria. When applying, requested reasons fall into one of two categories:
Standard Reassignment Pathway
This option allows you to request a student reassignment to any school on our approved receiving school list, subject to open seats. Select this option if you are applying for any of the following reasons:
- Moving into the Zone
- Completing the Current School Year
- Supervision Hardship (K-8 ONLY)
- Sibling of IEP Placed Student
- Other Good Cause (Supporting documentation is required)
Provisional Reassignment Pathway
This option is strictly limited to the specific reasons listed below. Use this pathway only if you are requesting a school that is not on the standard approved receiving list. To be eligible, students must meet specific criteria which will be verified. Applications that do not meet these exact requirements, or are submitted for any other reason, will be denied. Select this option only if your request matches one of the following reasons:
- Moving into the Zone
- Last Grade Level Option (5th, 8th, 12th grade only)
- Sibling of IEP Placed Student
- Employee - School Site Reassignment
- Employee - Feeder or Other Reason
