What to Know
What Courses Your Child Can Take
- Elementary (K-5): The specials rotation at a participating school each day of the week, including Art, Music, and P.E. Some schools may also offer additional special courses during the rotation such as Media, Guidance, and STEM.
- Middle School (6-8): Band and chorus are available.
- High School (9-12): A rigorous selection of college-preparatory academics is available, featuring a wide variety of Advanced Placement (AP) and Cambridge AICE courses across STEM, humanities, world languages, and capstone research programs. Additional course opportunities may be available at various schools.
Course availability varies by school, grade, and period. Enrollment in any course depends on seat availability.
Attendance: Part-time students attend every scheduled class on time and stay the full period.
Conduct: The Student Code of Conduct applies in full on campus and at School District activities. Serious or repeated violations can remove a student from the program without a refund.
Campus Procedures: Students check in and out at the front office each day, arrive 10 minutes before class, and leave promptly after it ends. Part-time students may not remain on campus.
Transportation: The School District does not provide transportation. Families must follow the school's established drop-off and dismissal procedures.
Grades and Diplomas: PBC FlexAcademy students receive grades that are recorded in the District’s Student Information System. Your child remains a part-time student and will not earn a School District diploma through this program.
Athletics: Home education students may participate in interscholastic athletics at their zoned school under Florida Statute 1006.15 and FHSAA rules. Athletic eligibility is separate from this program.
Registration Requirements: Students must provide all required enrollment documentation at the time of registration. This will include proof of residency, the student's birth certificate, immunization records, a physical examination (if applicable).
