Our Graduation Ceremony
The School District of Palm Beach County and the Department of Adult and Community Education celebrated the achievements of GED, Career & Technical Education, and Vocational (Trades) programs, at our graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at the Expo Center at the South Florida Fairgrounds. Families, friends, teachers and administrators of 163 students were present to wish our graduates good luck as they transition to college and the workforce.
Our graduation Master of Ceremonies was Assistant Principal, Vince Taormina. We were honored to have School Board Vice Chair, Mrs. Karen M. Brill, as well as Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Mike Burke, Deputy Superintendent, Mr. Ed Tierney, Commencement Speaker, Dr. James Green, ACE Director, Mr. Fred Barch, and many other leaders in the department of Adult Education.
CSTEC Principal Awilda Tomas-Andres, congratulated and encouraged our students to be proud of their resiliency, tenacity, and courage. She asked students to persevere through any challenges that lie ahead. Dr. Green spoke words of wisdom and impressed upon our graduates to "See It Through," as Edgar Albert Guest tells us in his powerful poem. Our Superintendent reminded everyone how Adult Education programs change lives and improve the family for generations to come. A heartwarming moment occurred when Pre-Apprentice and GED graduate Abel Rodriguez, presented his high school diploma to his 9-year-old grandson JJ, and when FY22 ACE graduate Celeste Franco, returned to share how well she is doing at Palm Beach State College and at work!
We would like to shout out to the ROTC from Forest Hill High School for the Presentation of Colors. We would also like to thank the Palm Beach Central High School Chorus and the Boca Raton High School jazz band students for their talented performances!It was a beautiful ceremony that will remain embedded in the hearts of our graduates, families, and guests!
