Entrepreneurship

  • This is an In House academy and only Park Vista zoned students may apply. Students may choose to take the introductory class as an elective or join the academy. (Entrepreneurship Flyer)

    This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and the relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Marketing, Sales and Service career cluster; provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Marketing, Sales and Service career cluster.

    The purpose of this program is to introduce students to the concept of entrepreneurship, present entrepreneurship as a viable career option, provide students with the skills needed to realistically evaluate their potential as business owners, and to develop the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to start and operate a business.

    Students who complete all three years will receive a certificate of completion from the School District of Palm Beach County during their senior year. 

    Principles of Entrepreneurship
    This course provides instruction in the basic principles of entrepreneurship:  the role of the entrepreneur, entrepreneurship as a career, ethics in business, and the principles of marketing, financing, and managing a business. Students have the opportunity to earn the Entrepreneurship and Small Business industry certification. 

    Business Management and Law
    Honors Credit
    This course is designed to provide an introduction to business management techniques.  Topics include human relations, decision making, communication techniques, business-related legal concepts, and characteristics of the American enterprise system. Students have the opportunity to earn the Quickbooks Online industry certification.

    Business Ownership
    Honors Credit
    The purpose of this course is to prepare students for careers as entrepreneurs, present entrepreneurship as a career path worthy of consideration, provide students with the skills needed to realistically evaluate their potential as business owners, and develop the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to start and operate a business. Students have the opportunity to earn the PMI (Project Management) industry certification.
