  • My name is Maria Boyle, and I am the school counselor at Pierce Hammock Elementary School. This site aims to keep students, parents/guardians, and families informed on the comprehensive school counseling program at PHES, and also to provide helpful resources.

    Role of the School Counselor
    "Elementary school years set the tone for developing the knowledge, attitudes skill necessary for children to become healthy, competent, and confident learners. Through a comprehensive developmental school counseling program, school counselors work as a team with the school staff, parents, and the community to create a caring climate and atmosphere. By providing education, prevention, and early identification intervention, school counselors can help all children achieve academic success. The professional elementary school counselor holds a master's degree and required state certification in school counseling" (American School Counselor Association, 2014).

    Mission Statement
    The mission of the  School Counseling to provide a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate counseling program that addresses the academic, personal/social, and career development of all students. The school counselor, in partnership with other educators, parents/guardians, and the community, seeks to provide support to maximize student potential and academic achievement. Furthermore, works to ensure that all students have access to the tools and knowledge necessary to contribute as productive members of society. The school counselor can help create a safe and healthy learning environment for all students!
