Media Center

  • The media program offers 21st Century instruction, technology, and the latest print and electronic collection for all of our students, parents, and teachers.

Our Media Center programs increase students' reading skills and foster a great love for reading and information literacy. The love of reading is fundamental in the growth and improvement of all academic areas. Our media programs feature motivational programs such as the Sunshine State Young Readers Jr. book selections, Sunshine State Readers- Battle of the Books for grades 3-5, Florida Reading Association for grades Pre-K-2, Reading Across America- Dr. Seuss Celebration, Storybook Parade, Author-In Residence, and Scholastic Book Fairs. Students will learn to love to read and make it an essential part of their lives.

Meet Your Media Specialist!

  • Mrs. Wilson holding a library book and shelf marker Hi there! I am Mrs. Wilson, your Jerry Thomas Media Specialist. I see all classes at every grade level once a week for 35 minutes on our Fine Arts rotation. Students in grades 2-5 are able to check out 2-3 books per week and take them home to enjoy until they're done. Students in 1st grade check out books to keep in their classroom for reading, while Kindergarten teachers check out books to keep in bins in their classroom as well. This year we will have open Media in the mornings starting at 7:30 am. Students are welcome to join me at that time in the Media Center to read before school or return and check out books if they just can't wait until their next Media day.

The Media Center hosts many amazing school activities like this year's back-to-school BIG Book Giveaway! We also host an annual Literacy Night, our monthly staff, PTO, and SAC meetings, plus a week-long Book Fair in the Fall and Spring (dates coming soon). I hope to see you at our Jerry Thomas Media Center sometime soon!
