Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN)
Grades 3-5
MMUN is a collaborative, educational simulation of the United Nations and its communities that discusses real issues and convenes to debate and vote on resolutions proposed by students who act as delegates.
This is a yearlong club that involves the research of a country and culminating conference in New York City with children from around the world.
Students study the scope, mandates and history of the UN, including what it can and cannot do. Students investigate the committee objectives and assigned topics including past positions and proposed solutions, regional alliances and more.
Why would my child enjoy MMUN?
This non-competitive experience follows the work of Dr. Montessori to engage students in building peace and finding common ground in solving real-world problems using peaceful negotiation skills. -
