Exploring IT Careers/CP
This course is intended as an introductory course to Information Technology Careers and to assist students in making informed decisions regarding their future academic and occupational goals and to provide information regarding careers in the Information Technology career cluster. The curriculum for this semester class will empower students to create authentic artifacts and engage with computer science as a medium for creativity, communication, problem solving, and fun. Reinforcement of academic skills occurs through classroom instruction and applied laboratory procedures. Instruction and learning activities are provided in a laboratory setting using hands-on experiences with the equipment, materials and technology appropriate to course content and in accordance with current practices.Coding Fundamentals
The curriculum for this year-long class will teach students essential Web page development skills and coding skills. This course teaches students to develop Web sites using Hypertext Markup Language version 5 (HTML5), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), and graphical user interface (GUI) authoring tools. They will be able to insert images, create hyperlinks, and add tables, forms, video, and audio to Web pages. Other topics include validating HTML code, recognizing the importance of search engine optimization (SEO), using style sheets extensively to format Web page content, and implementing fundamental design concepts. Throughout the course, students learn about project management, e-commerce solutions, and careers in Web site development. Once students have mastered web development skills, they will be exposed to other programming languages such as Apple Swift, JavaScript, and Python.Computer Fundamentals
This course introduces students to the essential concepts, components, terminology, and knowledge about computers, computer systems, peripherals, and networks. At the end of this course students will have the opportunity to take an industry certification exam that encompasses content taught throughout the program.
