Things to Know

School hours
- The first day of school is August 10th, 2022.
- School starts at 9:30 am and ends at 4:05 pm.
- Car Drop Off begins at 9:00 am. (The cars will be lining up inside Eagles front parking lot. When they pass by the front door, parents can drop off the student.)
- Free breakfast for all students at the Cafeteria, from 9:00 - 9:20 am.
- Morning Care begins on the first day of school at 8:00 am.

- Solid color polo shirts (small logo is okay)
- Solid color shorts, pants, basketball shorts and joggers (no holes or decorations on clothing)

- PE clothes = any solid grey T-shirt and any long solid black shorts OR the uniform can also be purchased at the start of school through the PE teacher. You will have to bring your PE clothes inside your backpack, and you change them when it is time for PE class.

Lanyards, IDs and Car Decals
These items are required for the safety and security of the students and the school.
All 6th graders receive the first ID and lanyard free of charge. If these are lost or damaged, they must be replaced, at a cost of $5.00 per item.
Car decals, at a cost of $5.00, are needed to enter the parking lot. (Sale date to be determined.) -
Schedule pick-up
The schedule is a list of all classes, which the student will have for the year. Date to be determined, generally the week before school begins.

Classes
All 6th graders will have SIX classes in total. FOUR classes are Academic Subjects:
1. Language Arts
2. Math
3. Science
4. World History
TWO classes are Electives (the student can choose the electives and his/her schedule will be done based on availability). Elective descriptions can be found below on this page, in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
In Middle School, each teacher has his/her own classes. When the bell rings, the students have to go to their next classes (following their schedule). -
School Supplies
A list of school supplies will be posted on the Eagles Landing website prior to the start of school. Agenda planners are strongly recommended and can be purchased at school (sale dates to be determined).

Lunch
Students can either bring their lunch to school or receive it in the cafeteria for free. In addition, “a la carte” items, at various prices, can be purchased by cash or School Cash Online account.

Transportation to and from school

- Bike riders (Bike racks are located in the front of the school and by the bus loop in the back.)

Activity bus (Students enrolled in the After School program or staying for sports or clubs can take the activity bus home. Please note that the stops will vary from the usual school bus routes.) The Activity Bus begins the second week of school and ends the last week of school.

Morning Care and After School Programs
Eagles Landing Middle School offers:
- Morning Care - from 8:00 am to 8:45 am, Monday through Friday
- After School - from 4:10 pm to 5:30 pm, Monday through Thursday
(Morning Care begins on August 10 and After School begins on August 24. Information regarding cost for both programs will be provided at a later time).

Cell phones / Earbuds
Cell phones and earbuds are allowed on campus, but can only be used before and after school hours. Classroom usage is to be determined by the teacher.

Electives' Descriptions
Exploring Hospitality & Tourism Careers: This course will teach students safety and sanitation methods; interpret, convert and measure different recipes; demonstrate hands-on knowledge of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and herbs; learn about storage, tools, equipment and their processes; design a fictional food truck, operate the food truck from a business and culinary perspective.
Band: The objective of 6th grade band is to learn to play an instrument and to read music. Students will get the opportunity to play many different styles of music and, will receive assistance with the selection of an instrument. No prior musical experience is necessary.
Chorus: Sixth grade chorus opens up a completely new world to students as they learn how to sing and express themselves through music. All students are welcome, regardless of level of experience. Students will develop vocal techniques to perform various styles of music at concerts. Students will also have opportunities to travel to sing in various local, state and national honor choirs and competitions.
Physical Education: The purpose of this course is to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and values they need to become healthy and physically active for a lifetime. This course addresses both the health and skill-related components of physical fitness, which are critical for students' success.
Drama: This course is an overview of the offerings within the drama program. It will expose the students to the exciting world of drama and performance. Students will have the opportunity to act, sing, tell stories and write their own original scenes.
ICT Essentials: Web and Game Design: This course is an introductory computer science course covering topics such as problem solving, how computers work, Internet technologies, web design with HTML, computer programming with JavaScript (animation and video game coding), robotics, computer applications, and video production. Windows-based computers and iPads will be used in this course. Students will code and design their own website and computer game.
ICT Essentials: Keyboarding and Computer Applications: in this semester course, students will be learning about Google Drive, Google Classroom, Google Docs, email & Microsoft Office 2016. In addition, this course emphasizes skill building using the touch-type method of keyboarding. All computer stations have keyboard covers, which keep the students from looking down to find the letters. They will learn how to type properly and accurately.
Intro to Culinary: Students will explore safety and sanitation methods and procedures; learn, interpret, convert and measure different recipes and methods used for creating those recipes; demonstrate hands-on knowledge of various fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and herbs, food prep, selection, safety, storage, tools, equipment and the processes needed; design a fictional food truck, operate the food truck from a business and culinary perspective and learn about various culinary careers and their chain of command.
Art Appreciation 1 (Studio Art): The sixth grade art class is an introduction to the art department offerings. Students work on several small projects. The focus is on the elements of design, color theory, and two and 3-dimensional art.

Descrição das Disciplinas Eletivas
Explorando as Carreiras de Hotelaria e Turismo: Durante o Curso de Culinária, os alunos irão: aprender sobre segurança e métodos de saneamento; interpretar, converter e medir diferentes receitas; ter conhecimento e manusear frutas, legumes, grãos, sementes e ervas; aprender mais sobre armazenamento, ferramentas, equipamentos e seus processos; criar um caminhão de comida fictício e opera-lo nas perspectivas de culinária e negócios.
Banda: O objectivo da 6ª série em banda está em aprender a tocar um instrumento e ler música. Os alunos vão ter a oportunidade de tocar muitos estilos diferentes de música e serão auxiliados na seleção de um instrumento. Nenhuma experiência musical prévia é necessária.
Coral: Este curso dá aos alunos com pouca ou nenhuma experiência a oportunidade de aprender a cantar e se expresser através da música. Os estudantes serão capazes de desenvolver técnicas vocais em diferentes estilos de música para se apresentarem em concertos. Além disso, eles também terão a oportunidade de viajar e se apresentar em várias competições locais, estaduais e nacionais.
Educação Física: Os alunos irão aumentar o seu nível de condicionamento físico através de uma variedade de atividades.

ICT Essencial Tecnologia da informação e Comunicação: Neste curso, os alunos aprenderão sobre o Google Drive, o Google Sala de aula, o Google Docs, o e-mail e o Microsoft Office 2016. Além disso, este curso enfatiza o desenvolvimento de habilidades usando o método de digitação por toque. Exploración de carreras de Hospitalidad y Turismo: Este curso enseñará a los estudiantes los métodos de seguridad y saneamiento; a interpretar, convertir y medir diferentes recetas; a demostrar un conocimiento práctico de manejo de frutas y verduras, frutos secos, semillas, hierbas; se aprenderá sobre almacenamiento, herramientas, equipo y sus procesos; el diseño de un camión ficticio de comida y operación del camión de alimentos desde una perspectiva culinaria y de negocio.
Banda: El objetivo del curso de banda de 6 º grado es aprender a tocar un instrumento y leer música. Los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de tocar diferentes estilos de música y se ayudarán con la selección de un instrumento. No es necesaria experiencia previa en la música.
Coro: Este curso les muestra a los estudiantes un mundo completamente nuevo aprendiendo a cantar y expresarse a través de la música. Todos los estudiantes son bienvenidos con poca o ninguna experiencia y serán capaces de desarrollar técnicas vocales para diferentes estilos de música. Además, tendrán la oportunidad de participar en conciertos escolares y en competencias del condado o estado.
Educación Física: El objetivo de este curso es el de proveerle a los estudiantes con el conocimiento, habilidades y valores que necesitan para permanecer saludables y estar físicamente activos de por vida. Este curso aborda tanto los componentes relacionados a la salud como los de la aptitud física, los cuales son críticos para el éxito del estudiante.

ICT Esenciales Diseño de Páginas Web y Juegos: Este es un curso introductorio de informática que cubre diferentes aspectos tales como la resolución de problemas, el funcionamiento de los computadores, tecnologías de Internet, diseños de página Web con HTML, programación de computadores con JavaScript (codificación de animación y video juegos), robótica, aplicaciones informáticas y producción de video. En este curso se utilizarán computadores y tabletas(iPads) basadas en tecnología de Windows. Los estudiantes codificarán y diseñarán su propio sitio web y juegos en computadores.
ICT Esenciales: Uso de Teclado y Aplicaciones Informáticas: En este curso semestral, los estudiantes aprenderán sobre Google Drive, Google Classroom, Google Docs, el correo electrónico y Microsoft Office 2016. Además, este curso enfatiza en el desarrollo de habilidades utilizando el método de teclado tipo táctil. Todas las estaciones de computadores poseen cubiertas de teclado que evitan que los estudiantes miren hacia abajo para encontrar las letras. Apreciación del arte 1 (Estudio de Arte): La clase de arte de sexto grado es una introducción a lo que ofrece el departamento de arte. Los estudiantes trabajarán en varios proyectos pequeños. La clase se enfoca en los elementos de diseño, teoría del color y en arte bidimensional y tridimensional.
