Media Center

  • The media program offers 21st Century instruction, technology, and the latest print and electronic collection for all of our students, parents, and teachers.

Our Media Center programs increase students' reading skills and foster a great love for reading and information literacy. The love of reading is fundamental in the growth and improvement of all academic areas. Our media programs feature motivational programs such as the Sunshine State Young Readers Jr. book selections, Sunshine State Readers- Battle of the Books for grades 3-5, Florida Reading Association for grades Pre-K-2, Reading Across America- Dr. Seuss Celebration, Storybook Parade, Author-In Residence, and Scholastic Book Fairs. Students will learn to love to read and make it an essential part of their lives.

  • The Watson B. Duncan Middle School Media Center has a variety of resources available to our students, including research tools and databases, ebooks, Sunshine State Books, and more. Students can also get involved with the School District's Battle of the Books Tournament.

Mrs. Boutte, Media Specialist, and Ms. Valentine, Media Clerk, are available to assist with any Media Center need.

    Battle of the Books

Every year, hundreds of teams compete in the School District of Palm Beach County's Battle of the Books Tournament.  Students use their knowledge and understanding of the 15 SSYRA books to answer questions in a timed format. Our students have the opportunity to participate each year.
