Principal’s Message
Dear Jupiter Middle School Families,
Next week, the Palm Beach School District and school districts and communities all over the nation will celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week. Here at Jupiter Middle School, we will celebrate the work of our teachers and all of the staff members who support our teachers and students on a daily basis.
Our teachers and staff members serve our students and families in so many ways beyond their job descriptions. Our team of caring, compassionate professionals go above and beyond by serving the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of our students. They serve as teachers, counselors, coaches, advisors, mentors – and sometimes even as their “school parents.”
This is a perfect time for them (or you!) to write a note of thanks for those teachers or staff members who have made a difference in the life of your child.
I give thanks every single day for the opportunity to serve here at Jupiter Middle School. It is a special place because of the outstanding staff members. Please join me in celebrating their work, their vocations, and their passion for making a difference in the lives of our children next week.
Anchored in Respect, Responsibility and Resilience... We Are One Crew!
As always, thank you for your support of our school and enjoy your weekend.
Sincerely, Lisa Hastey

Principal’s Message
Dear Jupiter Middle Families,
As we approach "crunch time" academically, I would like to take a moment to emphasize the critical role that regular attendance plays in the success and overall well-being of our students at Jupiter Middle.
1. **Impact on Grades:** It is undeniable that consistent attendance directly correlates with academic performance. Each day absent from school is a missed opportunity to engage in learning, participate in class discussions, and receive direct instruction from our dedicated teachers. As a result, grades may suffer, and students may find themselves struggling to keep up with the curriculum.
2. **Connection and Self-Esteem:** Regular school attendance fosters a sense of belonging and connection to the school community. It allows students to form bonds with their peers, establish relationships with teachers, and engage in extracurricular activities. This sense of connection is crucial for developing a positive self-esteem and a strong sense of identity.
3. **Teaching and Learning:** Our teachers rely on the presence of their students to effectively deliver their lessons. When students are frequently absent, it disrupts the flow of instruction and makes it challenging to maintain the pace of the curriculum. It is difficult for teachers to provide meaningful feedback and support to students who are not consistently present in the classroom.
4. **Preparation for End-of-Course Tests:** In addition to regular classroom assessments, attendance is vital in preparing students for end-of-course tests and PM3, the culminating assessment for the year. These assessments are important benchmarks that measure students' mastery of essential skills and knowledge. Consistent attendance ensures that students receive the necessary instruction and practice to perform well on these assessments.
Please help us by prioritizing attendance and punctuality in your child's education. Together, we can ensure that our students are equipped with the tools and skills they need to thrive academically and personally.
Anchored in respect, responsibility, and resilience...We Are One Crew!
As always, thank you for your support of our school!

Principal’s Message
Dear Jupiter Middle Families,
On Monday, our teachers engaged in professional development led by the Director for Middle Level Programs of the Association of Middle Level Educators (AMLE). The AMLE is a worldwide community of more than 35,000 educators working to advance the education of all students, aged 10-15, dedicated to helping middle grades educators reach every student, grow professionally and create great schools.
Our training helped us understand (even more) who our students are and provided tangible ways to meet their developmental needs. As a staff, we are committed to doing everything possible to meet the unique developmental needs of all of our students. As I mentioned last week, it's crunch time. Please help us by:
- Checking your child's progress in SIS on a regular basis
- Taking "tours" of their Google Classrooms, led by your young person
- Taking "tours" of their backpacks and notebooks, again, led by your student

Principal’s Message
Dear Jupiter Middle Families,
It’s crunch time. We are in middle of the third quarter of the year and it is more important than ever that we remain vigilant about school routines, school rules and procedures, and school safety. Here are some reminders for all of us as we work together to make our school the best place possible for top notch learning and teaching:
1. Grades matter. You should have received notice of your student’s progress from the district on February 9th. Please review grades and set goals for a strong finish to the grading quarter.
2. Attendance matters. Our students cannot learn if they are not here. We need our students present and on time in order for them to learn.
3. We expect positive behavior, and we are here to help our students when they need help. Students, if you need help with a challenging situation, let an adult know. Taking matters into your own hands in a negative way is never a good choice; again, we are here to help you. That is our job!
Parents, thank you for reinforcing these reminders at home. Together, we will ensure a solid end to the third quarter by focusing on positive behavior, great academic achievement, and the ability to celebrate our students’ growth and accomplishments.
Anchored in respect, responsibility and resilience… We Are One Crew!
As always, thank you for your support of our school community, and enjoy your weekend.

Principal’s Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We want to hear from you! The School Effectiveness Questionnaire (SEQ) deadline has been extended until Monday, February 19, 2024.
Please take a few minutes to complete this survey. Each year, all members of the school community (students, parents, and staff members) have the opportunity to give input about how you think we are doing as a school. I take this kind of input very seriously; it gives me the opportunity to review what we do well and to work on areas we can improve.
Hearing from you will help us make this the best school it can be for our entire community. I've attached the flyer with the QR code for your convenience.Anchored in respect, responsibility and resilience... We Are One Crew!
As always, thank you for your support of our school community.
Sincerely, Lisa Hastey

Safety Matters - Student ID Badges
Students are required to wear a current year school ID and school issued grade level lanyard around their neck each day. Student IDs are required for all students across our school district.
Buses and student IDs: It is the expectation that students who ride the bus, both to and from school, wear their school ID badge. A new system has now been installed on district buses for students to scan IDs both when they enter and exit the bus. Students without an ID will lose the privilege to ride the bus.
**In an effort to ensure students are in compliance with the ID policy and to decrease chance of student receiving a morning detention, we have started a new process.
Students who receive a reminder (temporary ID) at beginning of day will receive a new lanyard and ID ($10 for set) later in the day.
If student has the $10, they can pay in student office. If not, the fee will be posted to student’s SIS account and can be paid as soon as possible. This is the same process as used in area high schools.

Principal’s Message
Dear Jupiter Middle Families,
By now, we’ve all heard the slogan, “If you see or hear something, say something.” I reminded students of the importance of this on WJMS earlier this week, and the various ways they can make reports to adults on campus.
I reminded our students that we are here to help and if they know of a conflict brewing among their peers, there are a variety of ways they can report issues to adults… and that we will keep their names confidential.
Parents and guardians, I ask you to model the way for our students. It is essential that students or parents who see a troubling post on social media or elsewhere reach out to school officials or police. Please email us, utilize the FortifyFL app, or just pick up the phone and give us a call.
Anchored in respect, responsibility and resilience… We Are One Crew!
As always, thank you for your support of our school community, and enjoy your weekend.
Sincerely, Lisa Hastey

Principal’s Message
Dear Jupiter Middle Families,
To better understand the needs of our students, we are participating in the Association for Middle Level Education’s Successful Middle School Assessment. This survey is designed to help us understand our current implementation of practices that research indicates are especially effective for middle school-aged students. The survey gives you the opportunity to lend your voice and share your perspective so we can make good choices for current and future students.
The survey takes about approximately 6 minutes to complete and is fully anonymous. We ask that you please answer every question. The data we collect from families will be considered alongside responses from staff and students and will guide the Association for Middle Level Education to offer recommendations that will help us continue to meet the needs of our students. Would you please complete the survey by Friday, December 15.
Thank you so much for your participation in this survey designed especially for middle school-aged students.

Health Matters - Caffeinated Beverages and JMS students
Parents/Families – Will you please review this guideline with your student/s?
In an effort to support the health of our students, we do not permit students to have caffeinated beverages on campus, including at lunch.
We initiated this rule as we are concerned about caffeine and the negative impact on the health of our students. Caffeine is often found in items such as energy drinks, coffee, hot chocolate, soda and tea to name a few.
Thank you for your help.
A Note from the PE Department to all PE Students
All PE students should bring a bottle of water to class every day. JMS has water refill stations across campus so students can refill bottles during day. (Please write student’s first and last name on bottom of bottle in case they are misplaced.)
It might be December, but it’s still warm outside and students needs to stay hydrated.
Thank you, JMS Physical Education Department
