Dominga Manuel-Xuncax Biography & Presentation
The presentation will focus on culture, languages, educational differences, and will provide information regarding Guatemalan /Mayan students in Palm Beach County.
Dominga Xuncax is the first Maya-Q’anjoba’l teacher in Palm Beach County. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. Dominga is working for the Palm Beach County School District as Q’anjob’al Translator/Interpreter II and Maya Liaison, since 1996. She speaks Q’anjob’al, Akateko, English and Spanish. Her honors include earning a Presidential Scholarship, graduating Cum Laude, receiving Martin County’s “Appreciation for Outstanding Services to Western Martin County 1990”, and the “International TESOL Introduction to the Modern Maya 1999”.
Supporting Students from Guatemala/Mayan Cultures
This presentation will provide pertinent information regarding Guatemalan/Mayan students in Palm Beach County. The focus will be on culture, languages and educational differences.
