Dr. Luis Alvarez Biography
Luis Alvarez is Professor of History and Associate Dean for Academic Personnel and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the School of Arts and Humanities at UC San Diego, where he has also served as Director of the Chicanx Latinx Studies Program and inaugural Director of the Institute of Arts and Humanities. He is author of The Power of the Zoot: Youth Culture and Resistance during World War II (UC Press, 2008), Chicanx Utopias: Pop Culture and the Politics of the Possible (Univ. Of Texas Press, 2022), and co-editor of Another University is Possible (University Readers Press, 2010).
