The School Advisory Council (S.A.C.) is a resource for the school, its teachers, parents, students and principal. It is mandated by state law to oversee a School Improvement Plan (SIP) describing specific ways the school aims to increase student academic performance.  Every public school in Florida has a School Advisory Council (SAC) as a result of a 1991 law aiming to increase student achievement and the effectiveness of public schools.

The primary function of the S.A.C. is to provide all of the stakeholders an opportunity to be active participants in the assessment of needs, development of priorities, and the identification and use of resources based on an analysis of available school data.  SAC members include the principal, school staff, parents, students and community members and must be representative of the ethnic, racial, and economic community served by each school.
