Engineering Choice Academy - Project Lead the Way

  • The Engineering and Technology programs are affiliated with Project Lead the Way (PLTW), a not-for-profit organization that forms partnerships with public schools, colleges, universities, and the private sector to increase the quantity and quality of engineers and engineering technologists graduating from our educational system. PLTW has developed a four-year sequence of courses including Introduction to Engineering Design, Digital Electronics, Principles of Engineering, Civil Engineering and Architecture, and Engineering Design and Development.

    Why PLTW Engineering?

The courses engage students in activities that not only build knowledge and skills in engineering, but also empower students to develop essential skills such as problem solving, critical and creative thinking, collaboration, communication and perseverance. Students dig deep into the engineering design process, applying math, science and engineering standards to hands-on projects. Students explore the foundations of
computing by engaging in circuit design processes to create combinational logic and sequential logic as electrical engineers do in industry. In their third course, students explore a broad range of engineering topics including mechanisms, strength of structure and materials, and automation. They apply what they know to take on challenges like designing a self-powered car.
